Coastal Bend College freshman Manual Garcia and Jan Gruhn have been named to the Region XIV All Conference Soccer team by the Region XIV soccer head coaches.

Garcia a defensive midfielder, who hails from Cangus, Spain, was honored for his all-around play and impact on the field from both a defensive and offensive standpoint.  CBC Head Coach Brian Byrd expressed, "Manu is exactly the type of player we thought he would be when we recruited him.  When he steps on the field he makes everyone better by his all around play."  Garcia scored four goals and had two assists on the 2017 season.

Gruhn a defense men, who hails from Schleiden, Germany, scored four goals and eight points on the 2017 season.   Coach Byrd stated, "Jan came to CBC as one of the youngest players age wise in Region XIV, but played with maturity of the elite players in the conference.  Jan's defensive leadership held our group together in every game."

CBC soccer again reached the Region XIV semi-final game in 2017 and finished with a record of 12-7.  The season's high-point was the dramatic defeat of then #1 and eventual 2017 National Champion Tyler Junior College on September 8th.

"We are unbelievably excited to have both Jan and Manu returning in 2018 as we strive to reach our goal of winning a National Championship!" beamed Byrd
