History Made: Pair of Cougars Named All-American

History seems to be made more frequently than ever before within the Coastal Bend College athletic program. For the first time in school history, the Cougar Baseball team saw two of its members named to two different All-American teams.  Pitcher, Marco Becerril and Infielder, Jordan Gochenour have both been selected as All-Americans receiving first and second team All-American honors on both the NJCAA Division III and 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Division III All-America Teams.

CBC Head Baseball Coach, Brian Bauerle on Marco Becerril named First Team All American: "Marco is a good kid, hard worker and is dedicated to his craft. Marco did a great job for us this year and is one win away from setting the school record for wins by a pitcher here at CBC. He pitched very well for us at the regional tournament and helped us earning his 10th win on the season. I'm glad he'll be back with us for another year."

CBC Pitching Coach, Ryan Benitez on Marco Becerril: " The way Marco pitched this past season, he definitely earned the right to be known as one our Ace's on the pitching staff. Going 10-2 on the year and leading the nation in Wins with a 4.26 ERA, Marco is a true competitor and was fearless on the mound. He has a 'Bulldog' type of mentality when he is in the zone. After this past season, I'm looking to see what's in store for the upcoming year."

Coach Bauerle on Jordan Gochenour being named Second Team All American: " Jordan was the most consistent player for us this year and one of the hardest working guys as well. He led the team in numerous categories and set school records in Hits with 67 and 46 Runs Scored. He also finished third in program like Games started with 57, batting average with .427, led the team in Doubles with 15, Walks with 30, On Base Percentage In .542, and Slugging Percentage in .713.history with 43 RBI's and 12 Stolen Bases. Jordan is one of the most talented guys I've ever had the pleasure of coaching. He's well deserving of his accomplishments and accolades." Bauerle also added "Jordan is a great student in the classroom as well. He's a Dean's List student who is always on top of his schoolwork. A great role model and representative of Coastal Bend College Baseball. "

Becerril will be returning to top of the hill at Joe Hunter Field for the 2019 season, while Gochenour will be switching his Cougar blues for Cougar red as he will finish is finally three years of eligibility with NCAA Division I and Conference USA power, University of Houston Cougars.
