Clarke Inks With Four-Year School

Coastal Bend College ace pitcher, Lydia Clarke will be continuing her education and playing career at McMurry University. Clarke made 28 appearances for CBC this season, earning 12 wins on the year, holding the record for most wins in CBC Softball program history for a single season. The Liberty native pitched a total of 151 innings with a 15.8 ERA and 67 strikeouts. Clarke leaves CBC as the most winningest pitcher in Softball program history with 16 victories. 

Lydia Clarke ace pitcher for Coastal Bend Lady Cougars has signed with McMurry University.  Clarke appeared in 181 innings and finished the season with 13 wins during her in twenty six games of play.  She helped the Lady Cougars stay in most games with an impressive 1.70 ERA while compiling 73 K's in the 181 innings.  She was a main ingredient in the Lady Cougars first Regional Appearance in program history.

Coach Stephen Machorro states: "Lydia had a great season in the circle and really helped us earn some tough wins.  She gained a lot of confidence throughout the year thanks to a strong defense behind her. Lydia was a great asset and leader for the team. She was always focused and locked in as well as a captain on the winningest softball team in Coastal Bend history.  Lydia was very coachable and engaged in the game and a true competitor."

Coach Machorro also says, "On the academic side she was a proof to the beliefs of our program.  She maintained academic side of things very well being a leader in the classroom as well. She will be a positive addition both on and off the field and help McMurry in the same way she helped Coastal Bend. I hope to hear nothing but great things from her in the future."

Clarke will be majoring in Math and minoring in Computer Science during her tenure at McMurry University.
