The Brazilian native  Grave was born in São Paulo. His love and enthusiasm for soccer began very early in life, specifically when he began playing futsal at the highest level allowed for his age in the State of São Paulo at the age of nine. At the age of 11, after playing futsal for a few years, he made the decision to join the famed S.E. Palmeiras academy squad, where he remained until the age of 16. He afterwards joined So Caetano E.C., a leading academy squad, and played for them until he was 20. He spent years playing for academy teams before joining Colorado F.C. in the 2 State Division of Parana in 2013, which allowed him to play at the highest level of soccer. A year later, he was given the opportunity to join Guaratingueta F.C., a third National Division Team, and represent them on the national stage. One year after joining the team and following multiple ACL surgeries, Grave made the decision to give up playing professional soccer and concentrate on his studies.

He spent 23 years of his life in Brazil before relocating to Kansas City, Kansas, to attend Kansas City Kansas Community College to study business administration. After that, he transferred to Oklahoma City University, where he earned bachelors degrees in accounting and finance. Grave earned two first team and one second team all-conference honors throughout the course of his collegiate soccer career. Additionally, during the 2017–2018 season, he and his colleagues made school history by winning the district 6 championship for the first time. Grave would contribute with the success of the team by scoring 12 goals and providing 9 assists in 17 games.
