The No. 12 Kilgore College Rangers traded the lead with the Coastal Bend Cougars several times in the second half, but a late 15-0 run lifted the Rangers to an 84-71 victory in both team's conference-opener.
KC's Daveon Thomas scored 32 points for the Rangers to lead the team in scoring.
KC travels Saturday, Dec. 3, to face Victoria College in a 2 p.m. tipoff.
