Strong 2nd Half Propels Apaches Past Coastal Bend
BEEVILLE - The No. 13 Apaches bounced back on Saturday, rallying in the second half to register a Region XIV basketball win.
Jaqwan McCauley led the way with 18 points as Tyler Junior College scored an 86-75 win over Coastal Bend on the Cougars' home floor.
The Apaches, who dropped their first game of the season on Wednesday to No. 5 San Jacinto, improve to 14-1 overall and 6-1 in league play.
TJC trailed 46-38 at halftime, but limited CBC to just 29 points in the second half.
The Cougars fall to 6-7 and 1-6.
Along with McCauley, Tajuan Agee (15 points), Kwinton Hinson (14) and Eden Ewing were in double-figures scoring for the Apaches.
Willie Rooks led the Cougars with 26 points, while Taywyn Mason Jr. added 20.
TJC returns home on Wednesday to face rival Kilgore College in a 7:30 p.m. tipoff at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
