Cougars Season Concludes in District C Tournament
On Thursday, May 17th in Plano, Tx, the Coastal Bend Cougars faced against Eastfield College for the opening round of the District C Baseball Tournament.
 
Michael Dinsdale recieved the nod for the Cougars. Dinsdale pitched three and two thirds of an inning during his outing. Michael Smith entered the game during the fourth inning for CBC. Ethan Summers was called in to relieve Smith on the hill, pitching two complete innings for the Cougars.
 
Coastal Bend didn't have a good outing during their first game of the tournament. The Cougars  only scored  1 run off of  2 hits for the game. CBC would end up dropping the first game by a score of 8-1 to the Harvesters.
 
Bo Gonzales hit a Triple for CBC while Cody Lee recorded an RBI of a Sac Fly. Kyler Bumstead hit for a Single during the match up against Eastfield College.
 
 
 
Friday, May 18th, Coastal Bend would be playing their second game of the tournament against North Lake College in the Contenders Bracket. Marco Becerril was on the bump for CBC with a game set at high noon on a blistering hot day. the Cougars would score first and lead the 2-0 headed to the Bottom of the Second inning. The Blazers of North Lake answered quickly with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. 
 
Later in the game the Coastal Bend bats woke up & jumped out to a 6-2 lead. After allowing a few runs in the Bottom of the Ninth inning to bring the lead to 1 run, 6-5. CBC shut the door of a comeback from the Blazers, when Cody Lee threw out the runner, on first base attempting to steal second, to conclude the game. The final score would end up being 6-5, in favor of the Cougars. 
 
Becerril pitched 7 and a 1/3 of an inning for CBC, recording seven strikeouts, giving up only three earned runs off of four hits and seven walked batters. Jacob Williamson entered the game during the eighth inning to relieve Becerill, only giving up one hit and two walks for his outing. Mason Foster was brought into the game for the Ninth inning, only giving up one hit and sealing the deal for his Seventh Save of the season.
 
Joel Rodriguez would record a Double and two RBI's with two bases on balls on the game. Tyler Dick hit a Single, scored a run and recorded a Walk for his performance. Jordan Gochenour recorded a Single, collected an RBI and was Walked twice on the afternoon. Bo Gonzales had a Single while putting down two RBI's on to the score book for CBC. Josh Burnett also had a Single while scoring a Run. Burnett drew bases on balls twice during the game. Cody Lee hit two Doubles during his plate appearances, marking down an RBI while also scoring a Run. Kyler Bumstead reached base safely, with a Single and a Walk.
 
 
 
The Cougars ended up playing in their second game of the day, on Friday night. Coastal Bend faced against Richland College. Ruben Sepulveda received the ball to get things started for CBC. 
 
In a tightly contested ball game, Sepulveda pitched a complete nine innings for Coastal Bend. Sepulveda did not disappoint as he only allowed four hits while recording five strikeouts during his performance. The Thunderducks scored two runs off the Cougars which would end up being enough to end their season. The Cougars only scored 1 run off of four hits and seven walked batters. CBC could not string together consecutive hits to help produce some scoring, as they had runners on base numerous times. 
 
Joel Rodriguez and Kyler Bumstead both recorded a Double a piece for Coastal Bend. Tyler Dick and Cody Lee both hit a Single for the Cougar stat sheet. Jordan Gocehnour helped score the only run for CBC, as he brought in Rodriguez with a RBI Sac Fly. 
 
The Cougars complete their season with 35 Wins and 22 Losses, a CBC Baseball program record for Wins in a Season.
