Cougar Baseball was less than thrilled when they Pre-Season NJCAA Division III Poll left them unranked, so the went out and took matters into their own hands in season's opening series a three game sweep over Pre-Season #6 Brookhaven.  Since then the Columbia and Navy has played hot and cold on their way to a 8-12 record, but among those eight wins include wins over NJCAA Division II #1, NJCAA Division II, #19 and the wins over Brookhaven.  All of that combined to push the Cougars into the 7th position in the first regular season NJCAA Division III weekly poll.

The poll is led by Region XIV rival Tyler Junior College.  The Apaches are off to a 15-5 start and will host the Cougars for a four game series in Tyler April 17th - 19th, before closing the series out here in Beeville on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th.   The Cougars stand three points ahead of District rival #8 Eastfield (22) and #9 Brookhaven (20).  CBC will likely face one or both of those schools if they reach the NJCAA District Championships in mid May.
