#25 Cavs Outlast Cougars at Home

Beeville, Tx- Coastal Bend hosted the #25 ranked Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers on Wednesday, January 9th. The Cougars faced a strong opponent in BPCC, as they held a record of 13-1 prior to tip-off. CBC looked to get back on track after losing a tough, hard fought game against Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Tx on Monday night. 

From the moment of tip-off the Cavs took off to a quick lead in the opening minutes of the first half. The Cougars bounced back and took their first lead of the game at nine to seven. Both teams battled hard on both ends of the floor throughout the first half, as the Cavs took a narrow lead into halftime, 34-32. 

The pace of the game continued over to the second half with both Bossier Parish and Coastal Bend duking it out, matching eachother point for point. Up until the four minute mark of the second half, the Cavs created some distance from the Cougars with a five point lead and never looked back. Though the Cougars were able to play solid defense and give themselves an opportunity to get back into the game, shots did not fall for CBC. Bossier Parish went on to win the contest by a final score of 75-65. 

CBC Guard, Gerald Thomas scored 14 points and grabbed down four rebounds and two assists for Coastal Bend. Center, Elijah Moleon also tallied 14 points along with five rebounds. Point Guard, Brian Payton netted nine points to help contribute CBC in scoring. Guard, Royce Hunter scored eight points and collected three rebounds for the contest. 

Coastal Bend men's basketball will be traveling to Carthage, Tx as they face Panola College on Saturday, January 12th at 4:00 PM.
