Cougars Nab Third Straight Victory

Baytown, Tx- Coastal Bend Men's Basketball traveled to the Eastern Gulf Coast part of Texas for Saturday's Region XIV Conference matchup with Lee College. The Cougars went into Baytown riding a two game win streak , with victories over Southwest Texas Junior College and most recently, Angelina College. 

The Cougars were able to begin the game with solid defensive play and shot the ball well as a unit. Coastal Bend took a 37-26 lead as the first half came to an end. 

CBC had an 11 point advantage over the Lee Rebels to begin the second half. The Cougars and Rebels would go back and forth, each going on scoring runs of their own. CBC played very well in the second half, scored baskets when they needed it most. The Rebels saw the basketball hit the bottom of the net more often in the second half, but the Cougars held on to their lead to win the ball game. The final score from Lee College Sports Arena would be 82-74 in favor of CBC.

Coastal Bend Guard, Charles Callier lead the team in scoring with 16 points while recording four rebounds and two assists. Center, Elijah Moleon came up one rebound short of a Double-Double, as he scored 15 points for CBC. Guard, Gerald Thomas added 10 points, five rebounds and three assists to help the Cougars to victory. Forward, Peyton Hardin chipped in with nine points, six rebounds and three assists. Point Guard, Brian Payton finished the contest with seven points, two rebounds while dishing out two assists. Post player, Kenny Brown produced solid minutes off the bench with seven points and four rebounds. 

The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday, February 2nd as they host Lamar State College at 4:00 PM.
