CBC Men's Basketball Begins Season with Back to Back Wins at Home

Beeville, Tx-  As the Cougars opened the season on November 1st, they hosted Southwest Texas Junior College. This game would mark the first part of the back to back home stand for Coastal Bend.

CBC was able to get out to a quick lead that helped them have control of the first half. Though, SWTJC hung around throughout the half, the Cougars stayed in the driver seat as they took a 54-41 point lead into the break.

In the second half of the game, the Cougars shooting dipped a bit, but defense and transition buckets helped them maintain the lead. Coastal Bend ended up beating the Cowboys, 98-78 for their first victory of the season.

Coastal Bend Guard, Kendrick Christian had a game high, 27 points to go with his eight rebounds. CBC Center, Elijah Moleon came up huge with a big double-double, scoring 16 points and snagging down 14 boards. Lance-Amir Paul netted 15 points while dishing out four assists, grabbing five rebounds and five steals for the game. Emmanuel White scored 12 points on 4-9 shooting and corralled five rebounds and passed for two assists. Donovan Deal had a nice contribution off the bench with eight points 


On Saturday, November 2nd, the Fort Sam Houston Rangers came to town to face Coastal Bend College. CBC looked to build off the momentum they had gained from the night before, as they prepared to square off against the Rangers.

The first half started out nicely for Coastal Bend as they jumped out ahead of the Rangers early. The Cougars stifling defense and fast pace put them by 40 points at half time, 65-25.

During the second half of the game, CBC maintained their pace to keep it a wide open basketball contest. Coastal Bend finished the game by scoring 120 points to the Rangers, 47. 

CBC's Kenneth Lee scored a game high, 17 points while collecting three rebounds, four steals and two assists. Emmanuel White recorded 16 points to go with his three rebounds, two assists and two steals for the game. Center, Elijah Moleon had 12 points and eight rebounds for Coastal Bend. Guard, Desmond McNiel netted 12 points and grabbed four rebounds. Forward, Jonathan Mcghee contributed with 10 pints off the bench and recorded six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Forward, Eric Conner had nine points and 13 rebounds. Point Guard, Lance-Amir Paul scored eight points, three assists and four steals for his stat line. Austin Guillory swished in 10 points and dished out four assists along with three steals. Forward, Connor Doobay gave the Cougars solid production from the bench as he recorded seven points and seven rebounds for CBC.

The Cougars will be on the road for their next game on Tuesday, November 5th to face #2 Ranger College at 7:00 PM.
