CBC Men's Basketball Stumbles at Texan Classic

Levelland, Tx-  The Coastal Bend College Men's Basketball team traveled to West Texas for the Texan Classic at South Plains College. CBC faced New Mexico Military Institute on Friday, November 15th. 

The Broncos and Cougars battled it out in first half, each taking their fair share of punches. Coastal Bend took a one point lead into the break, 31-30. 

In the second half, NMMI came out strong and went on a bit of run to create a gap from CBC. The Cougars continued to fight until the buzzer, but fell to the Broncos, 60-70. 

CBC Guard, Desmond McNiel scored a game high 19 points, going eight for eleven from the field with three rebounds. Kendrick Christian recorded eight points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal for the Cougars. CBC Center, Elijah Moleon dropped in eight points for the game.


CBC faced the #6 team in the country, South Plains College on Saturday, November 16th for the conclusion of the Texan Classic. 

The Cougars started the game off slow versus the Texans. SPC did not let up, as they took a 53-20 lead at halftime. 

Coastal Bend had a better showing in the second half of the game, but the lead was insurmountable to overcome. The Cougars fell to the Texans, 99-49.

CBC Point Guard, Lance-Amir Paul lead the Cougars in scoring with 14 points. Desmond McNiel netted nine points off the bench for Coastal Bend. Forward, Eric Conner recorded eight points and six rebounds for the game. 

Coastal Bend's next game will be on Tuesday, November 19th as they host San Antonio College at 7:00 PM.
