Coastal Bend Loses Tough One in Port Arthur

Port Arthur, Tx-  Coastal Bend Men's Basketball packed up their bags and traveled to just shy of the Louisiana border for a Region XIV Conference Game with the Lamar State College Seahawks. The contest took place at the Carl Parker Center on Wednesday, January 15th. 

The Cougars started out the game strong, playing well on both ends of the floor. Coastal Bend held the Seahawks to 13 points in the first 13 minutes of the game, as the Cougars led 24-13. Lamar State regrouped, and was able to get back in the game with a scoring run before halftime. CBC took a four point lead at the break, 37-33.

In the second half, both Coastal Bend and Lamar State picked up the pace and tallied up the scoreboard. The game went on to have nine ties between the two clubs as the rest of the game unfolded. Late in the game, the Seahawks went on another run, as the Cougars could not find the basket or defensive stop. Once Lamar State created separation from Coastal Bend, they maintained the lead until the final buzzer beating CBC, 78-89.

Coastal Bend's Emmanuel White lead the team in scoring with 23 while recording six rebounds and three assists. Point Guard, Lance-Amir Paul racked up 16 points to go with his eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Forward, Eric Conner netted 11 points with five rebounds.  Kenneth Lee contributed nine points, as he swished in three, three pointers. Center, Elijah Moleon penciled in nine points, five rebounds and two assists off the bench for CBC.


CBC's next game will be on Saturday, January 18th as they host Lee College (12-7 overall; 3-5 conf.) in the Peter S. Marecek Physical Fitness Center. The Region XIV contest is scheduled for a 4:00 PM Tip-off!
