Beeville, Tx-  Head Men's Basketball Coach, Marcus Thompson, has announced the team accolades for the 2019-2020 season.  The Cougars finished the 19-20 campaign with a 12-19 overall record (5-14 in Region XIV play).  The Cougars knocked off home team Bossier Parish in the opening round of the 2020 Region XIV Championship Tournament 87-76; the first win in the Regional Tournament for Cougar basketball since the 2015 Regional Championships.

Defensive Player of the Year- Eric Conner  - Conner a 6'5" Sophomore Forward from Houston, Texas was a steady influence all season of the Cougars as he worked tirelessly in the paint to lead the team in rebounding with 7.8 rpg, and defensive rebounding with an average of 5.5 rebounds per game; often times matching up against taller and bigger opposition.  Coach Thompson had this to say about Conner, ""Eric was our ultimate intangible guy. He did all the little things necessary to make this team a success. Whenever Eric was not in the game, we were a different team. He did a great job for us this year!"

He led the team in assist with 5.2 per game. Had the ability to create for himself averaging 13.5ppg as well as make plays for others, while Emmanuel was a guy we could depend on to provide instant offense for us. Constantly being a threat from the 3pt line. He had a lot of big time scoring games in critical moments for us this year," said Thompson.

Most Valuable Player - Elijah Moleon - Moleon a 6'9" Sophomore Center from Kileen was most definitely the "big man" for the Cougars all season.  The All-Region XIV South Honorable Mention selection led CBC in points per game with 13.6, shooting percentage with 63.9, and averaged 1.4 blocked shots per contest.  Said Thompson of Moleon, "Elijah was the unstoppable force for us all year. He was one of the best big men in the league and opposed his will on both ends of the floor. We would not have been in position to be successful if not for Eli's consistent production."

Congratulations to all of the Cougars for their hard work in this season.  Gentlemen - job well done!
