Cougars Break Even on Weekend Road Trip

Jacksonville, Tx- Heading into the weekend conferecence matches, Coastal Bend Soccer held a record of 4-5. The Cougars first traveled to Jacksonville for a bout with the Jaguars on Friday, October 11th.

Right out the gates, both clubs would compete for field position. The Jaguars would strike first in the eighth minute of the match to lead, 1-0 over CBC.  Two minutes later, Coastal Bend scored the equalizer off the foot of Ryan Napier. Napier's goal was assisted by Ryan Lewis. The score at intermission would tied at 1-1 a piece.

As the tempo of the match picked up, so did the intensity of both clubs. Coastal Bend and Jacksonville both eagerly fought for position to take the lead. During the 62nd minute, CBC's Center Attacking Midfielder, Gabriel Campora would score a goal from teammate Ryan Lewis. Campora's goal would mark his fourth score of the season while Lewis recorded his fourth assists on the year. The Cougars lead 2-1 for the remainder of the match in part to stifling defense that did not allow the Jaguars to net another goal. Goal Keeper, Lewis Tyler recorded eight saves for the match. 

CBC went on to improve their record to 5-5 on the season with the victory. The Cougars have now swept the Jaguars for the 2019 season, beating them earlier in year at home, 4-3 back in September.


Tyler, Tx- On Saturday, October 12th the Cougars would travel a little further up north, to face #10 Tyler Junior College for an evening showdown. The Cougars faced the Apaches back in mid September at home but lost, 3-0. 

Knowing it would be a battle, the Cougars played extremley well on Defense for the better part of the first half. The Apaches would break the scoreless match at the 39th minute and take a 1-0 lead into halftime. 

During the second half of the match, CBC continued their efforts in trying to score a goal but shots on the goal were difficult to come by. Early the second half of the match the Apaches would score again to increase their lead. In the 87th minute, TJC would tack on another score to lead Coastal Bend, 3-0. As time expired, the Cougars ended up falling to the Apaches. 

CBC Goal Keeper, Lewis Tyler recorded 10 saves for the match.

Coastal Bend currently holds a record of 5-6 for the season. They will host Blinn College on Friday, October 18th for an afternoon match.
