Cougars Fall after Strong Showing by Midland

Beeville, TX- Coastal Bend College had trouble keeping up with the Chaps in a 17-0 loss on Friday.

 

Midland opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to three singles. Midland first got on the board when Bradley singled, scoring one run.

 

The Chaps scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Johnson was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Stewart drew a walk, scoring one run, Espinosa lined out, scoring one run, and Ramos homered to center field, scoring three runs.

 

Midland added to this early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Stewart singled, Espinosa singled, Rodriguez singled, and Westernskow walked, each scoring one run.

 

Briannah Mejias led things off in the circle for CBC. The right-hander gave up five hits and seven runs (six earned) over one and one-third innings.

 

Jocelynne Martinez went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Coastal Bend in hits.

 

The Chaps amassed 14 hits and 6 walks in the game. Espinosa and Stewart each collected three hits and hitting back-to-back.
