The CBC Women's Basketball team stood toe to toe with nationally ranked Midland College and traded punch for punch with them - for one quarter at least. After that, the cool winds that swept across west Texas cooled the Cougars and eliminated any hopes of an upset as they were held for a combined 13 points over the second and third periods. The Cougars were able to get things going in the final stanza but by then the game was out reach as CBC fell to 0-5 on the season losing 77-45.
The ladies were again led by sophomore guard Samantha Atkinson-Rowan, who scored 11 points. Aryana Brown chipped in nine, while Precious Lopez tossed in seven off the bench. The Cougars had a better outing on the glass, gathering more rebounds than last night's effort, but where out rebounded 32-66 by the larger Midland front court.
CBC will have limited time to reflect on today's contest as they take to the floor tomorrow at noon versus Western Texas College as they continue play in the Wrangler Club Classic in Odessa.
