Women's Hoops Comes Up Short Versus Panola College

Beeville, Tx- In their first Home game of 2019, Coastal Bend women's basketball would face Panola College for an early Saturday afternoon Region XIV Conference match-up. The Fillies entered the contest 3-1 in conference play as the Cougars were 2-2.

The first quarter of the game belonged to CBC, 18-16. The Cougars kept the momentum up in the second quarter as they took a slim three point lead into halftime, 36-33 over the Fillies.

Panola opened up the second half with not their height, but a better shooting performance on the Coastal Bend when they took a 46-52 lead into the last frame of regulation. Solid defense and a collective team effort on rebounding when they pulled with one point as they mustered up a 5-0 run to start the fourth quarter. The Fillies took a timeout and made some adjustments on offense and made free throws down the stretch. CBC fought hard for the remainder of the game, but unfortunately shots did not go in and ended up losing, 56-66.

Coastal Bend Guard, Jada Mitchell lead the team in scoring with 13 points while recording two rebounds and two assists. Guard, Marley Martinez tallied 12 points for CBC. Guard, Angelina Barela scored nine points and snagged down seven rebounds to go with three steals.
