Cougars Split in the CBC Classic

The Coastal Bend Women's Basketball team split in two games this past weekend. In the opening game Thursday night Coastal Bend faced off against LSU-Eunice for their second matchup this season. Coastal Bend went into halftime down 22 to 25 but after a 40 point second half went on to victory at 62-53 mark.

Coastal Bend went on to sweep LSU-Eunice series 2-0 this season behind
Shayla DeDe with 17 points, 8 RBS, and 5 Assists
Keely Burks with 11 points and 8 RBS
Ja'Nyla "Lala" Kennedy with 15 RBS


In the second game Coastal Bend looked to start 2023 off with a 2-0 record but Cisco took a back and forth game in the final seconds handing Coastal their first loss of 2023 at 58-60.
Coastal Bend found a lot of production from the three-point line at nine out of 27, but only scored nine two-point field goals out of 35. "We have to get better scoring two-point field goals. It is a must for us to win." Coach Purswell added after the game. "This team has seen lots of adversity and is really getting going fighting through the mental blocks. I'm very excited to see us improve and get back out there." Purswell finished off with.

JayDee Zamora with 11 points on 3 of 6 shooting from behind the arc and 7 rebounds
Alexes Rocha with 10 points
Also Taryanna "Mo" McNary finished with 9 RBS


Up next the Cougars will face Panola College at home Wednesday, January 11th at 5:30 p.m.
