Cougars Rain Down 3’s Saturday Afternoon to Beat Dragons

Beeville, TX- Late Friday night and early Saturday morning it poured rain in Beeville and at the Peters S. Marecek center on Saturday afternoon even though the sun shined outside, it continued to rain 3-pointers as the Cougars hit seventeen 3-pointers.  Those threes led Coastal Bend Women's Basketball to a 101-93 win over Paris Junior College for their second conference win of the season.

The Cougars came out hot with 6 threes in the first quarter leading after one quarter 29-16.  The Cougars could not score the same in the second and Paris cut into the lead going into halftime 41-37.

Coastal Bend poured in 4 more threes in the third and along with two-point field goals and free throws the Cougars put in 30 points.  Ending the third the Lady Cougars led 72-62.  The final quarter saw Paris out score the Cougars by three which was not enough to close the gap leading to the Lady Cougars victory of 101-93.  Coastal Bend shot 17/32 from 3-point line for the contest.

"This group is so fun to watch offensively!  We can score and shoot so well.  Our struggle is rebounding and staying in front of the basketball.  These ladies can all shoot and it is so nice to have so many different scorers.  Very very resilient group and so proud of them for our win today."-Coach Nate said.

The Cougars move to 6-14 for the year and 2-5 in conference.  Coastal Bend women's hoops will head to Carthage, Texas on Wednesday for a Region XIV Conference matchup at 5:30 PM against Panola College.
