Volleyball Cruises Past Palo Alto College

The Cougar volleyball team played the role of poor hosts last night as they hosted the Palominos of Palo Alto College winning in straight sets 25-12, 25-7, 25-14.  The match was scheduled to be the second half of a home and home series this season, but Hurricane Harvey erased the Cougar's trip to San Antonio.  CBC dominated from the opening whistle to the last kill of the match, the outcome was never in question.

The Cougars used a balance attack as every player who played recorded a kill, including the Libero, Meaghan Gonzalez who alertly sent a dig immediately back over the net into a wide open portion of the Palo Alto defense.  The offensive load was again carried by Christina Montez who blistered PAC's block and defense for 10 kills and a .600 hitting percentage in two sets of work.  Adrianna Anzaldua contributed five kills, while Halle Martin and Robyn Young each chipped in with four apiece.

Defensively, Lindsay Garibay continued her stellar backcourt work tracking down 11 Palomino attacks, while Chylee Lefever scooped up 10 digs to lead the CBC defensive effort.  The defense appeared at times to be easy, because of the work the Cougars did from the service line.  CBC servers riddled the Palo Alto passers amassing 11 service aces, four of which belonged to Gonzalez.

The Cougars will wrap up their 2017 season, on Tuesday evening hosting Victoria College at 5:00 pm.
