Day Two of Volleyball Odyssey Results in Two More Wins

The CBC multi-day jaunt through north-Texas continued on Thursday with two more matches versus Brookhaven College and North Lake College.  While the names of the opponents changed the result was the same as day one - Two Cougar Wins!

Brookhaven College

Coastal Bend College 25 19 25 25
Brookhaven College 22 25 22 21

The "young Cougars" - playing at times with each position held by a freshman - started off strong versus Brookhaven College on Bear's home court.  The Bears made a couple of adjustments to use their team speed to take back set two.  The Cougars made their own adjustments to take the last two sets and the match three sets to one.

For the Cougars, Freshman Sydney Whitaker was virtually unstoppable blasting 11 kills on 23 swings, for an error free .478.  Freshman setter Samantha Santos dished out 39 assists, while stinging the Bears with five services aces. The freshman quartet of Alyssa Hutcherson, Cierra Hernandez, Karizma Matelski and Alyssa Estrada were spectacular in the backcourt scooping up 21, 17, 13 and 10 digs respectively.

North Lake College

Coastal Bend College 12 25 25 27
North Lake College 25 15 23 25

With a win in Flower Branch the Cougars made their way to Irving and a match-up with North Lake College.  The Cougars had their hands full with the Lakers, having to come back after a disastrous first set to take the final three stanzas including a barn-burner fourth set a 27-25 CBC match sealing win.

Cameron Del Angel again led the Cougars with 13 kills and a blistering .524 hitting percentage.  Alyssa Hutcherson was once again the defensive stopper gobbling up 30 Laker digs, while sophomore Meaghan Gonzales gathered 20 digs.
