Alyssa Hutcheson Named NJCAA Division I National Defensive Player of the Week

For the first-time in program history, a member of the Coastal Bend College Women's Volleyball team has been named NJCAA National Player of the Week.  Freshman, Libero/Defensive Specialist, Alyssa Hutcheson was named the Tachikara / NJCAA Division I National Defensive Player of the Week.  Hutcheson's defensive efforts last week helped the Cougars to a 2-0 mark including its first-ever Region XIV win over Wharton County Junior College.

For the week "Hutch" averaged eight digs per set, registering 56 total digs in the seven sets CBC played.  For the year Hutcheson is among the NJCAA's Division I elite.  She ranks third nationally in both total digs (506) and digs per set (6.33); she leads Region XIV in both categories.  As a team, the Cougars are the top defensive team in the nation digging 21.14 digs per set.  Hutcheson became Coastal Bend College's All-Time Dig leader in the first set of the match with Wharton County Junior College.
