Wharton, Tx- Coastal Bend College volleyball team beat Wharton County Junior College this past Wednesday night, moving their conference record to 1-2. This is how the sets played out, 25-18;25-23; 20-25; 25-21.
The Cougars beat Wharton for the last time this regular season completing a 3 series sweep.
Notables:
*Samantha Santos recorded 15 kills, 20 assists and 10 digs.
*Cierra Hernandez had 15 digs and 2 service aces.
* Alyssa Hutcheson dug up 22 balls during her four sets of play.
*Chasidy Gonzales finished with six kills and 16 digs.
*Meadow Rodriguez recorded 15 assists and six digs.
* Cameron Del Angel stated eight kills and two digs.
*Emma Batte finished with four kills and three solo blocks.
*Amber Willis recorded one ace, five solo blocks and one assisted block.
Coastal Bend improved to 11-11 on the season with the win.
Victoria, Tx- Cougar Volleyball traveled to Victoria on Saturday, October 5th for a Region XIV Conference match against Victoria College. The Cougars swept the Pirares, 25-23, 25-17, 25-23 to move to 2-2 in Region 14 South play.
Coastal Bend evened up the season series at one win per club, though CBC's win turned out to be much more valuable as it was the lone conference match of the season.
Notables:
*Sophomore Samantha Santos led the match with nine kills and 10 digs and 20 assists.
*Emma Batte put down six kills, three digs and one solo block.
*Freshman, Meadow Rodriguez recorded 12 assists and four digs.
*Libero, Alyssa Hutcheson was outstanding on defense, digging up 29 balls for the match.
*Chasidy Gonzales stated five kills and 11 digs for the Cougars.
*Sophomore, Cierra Hernandez recorded 10 digs during her time on the court.
The Cougars go on to play Laredo College on Saturday (10/12) at 2:00 PM here at Home in the Peter S. Marecek Physical Center. CBC currently holds a recond 12-11 record for the season.
