Cougar Volleyball Concludes Regular Season Play; Ready for Region XIV Tournament

Beeville, Tx- On Friday night, October 25th, the Coastal Bend volleyball team fell to Lee College in three sets; 22-25, 22-25, 20-25 moving them to 12-15 overall.

The standouts for the game were sophomore Emma Batte, who will finish her career with the most solo blocks at Coastal Bend College. Not only did she finish with 7 blocks during this match she also compiled 8.5 points and 2 kills. Ava Johnson collected 7 kills, 3 solo blocks and 10 points. Defensive specialist Alyssa Hutcheson recorded 14 digs on the night but it wasn't enough to push past the Lady Rebels and their offense.


The Coastal Bend College volleyball team concluded the regular season play with a 1-3 loss against the Buccaneers. The Cougars snatched game one against Blinn College 28-26. This is the first time in CBC history the cougars have ever taken a set from the buccaneers.

Emma Batte led Coastal Bend College with 7 blocks, while also finishing 10th in the nation in that same category. Samantha Santos and Alyssa Hutcheson combined for 37 digs and 12.5 points.

Head Coach, Macy Olness on the weekend matches: "This weekend was our last home games, this weekend we went out and played our hearts out. All of my sophomores really stepped up on their Sophomore Day and have Blinn a run for their money. This next weekend we head to the Region XIV Regional Tournament and go up against Navarro College who is undefeated this season and we going to be preparing to put up a fight against them!" CBC posted a 12-16 overall record and went 2-7 in conference play for the season.

Next, CBC Volleyball will compete in the 2019 NJCAA Region XIV Volleyball Championship Tournament on Nov. 1-3. The Cougars will face #1 Navarro College on Friday, November 1st at 9:00 AM at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Tx.
