CBC Volleyball Ends Season at Regional Tournament

Tyler, Tx-  For the opening round of the Region XIV Volleyball Tournament, Coastal Bend would face top ranked, Navarro College. Navarro College, ranked 1st in the latest poll, topped Coastal Bend College 13-25, 14-25, 4-25 at Wagstaff Gym Friday.

The Cougars fell to the Bulldogs which dropped them to 12-17 in NJCAA Region XIV, while the Lady Bulldogs remain undefeated in region play and move to 27-0 overall.

Sophomore Samantha complied five kills with seven digs, one blocked assist and 6.5 points. Sophomore Cameron Del Angel finished with five kills and five points as well.


The Cougars fell into the contenders bracket and faced Laredo College. On Saturday, November 2nd the Cougars went down to the Palominos in 5 sets;  25-23, 32-30, 13-25, 22-25, 15-17.

Notables:

Samantha Santos compiled 10 kills, 19 assists, 17 digs

Cierra Hernandez collected 23 digs

Ava Johnson had 16 kills and 17 digs

Emma Batte finished with five kills, three service aces and three total blocks

Leandra Miranda complied 22 assists and 11 digs.

Alyssa Hutcheson recorded six assists and 34 digs.

Head Coach, Macy Olness on the 2019 season: "My players did an amazing job this season and they showed people what Cougar Volleyball is all about! This season as my first year as a head coach was one I will never forget. My players worked hard every single day since we started on August 1st. They went into every game ready to play and gave it 100%! My players did an amazing job this season and they showed people what cougar volleyball is all about! This team was a pleasure to coach and I'm ready to see what next season has in store for us!"

Emma Batte and Alyssa Hutcheson also received Region XIV All-Conference Honorable Mention. The Coastal Bend Cougars finished their season with an overall record of 12-18; they finished 2-7 in conference. They will end the semester with a banquet to honor their athletes on November 18th and start their offseason in Spring of 2020.
