Four 2019 Cougars Moving On

Four 2019 Cougars Moving On

Four members of 2019 Cougar volleyball team will be taking their skills to the next level, including two playing in NCAA Division I.  Sophomore Middle Blocker Emma Batte, Sophomore Outside Hitter Cameron Del Angel, Sophomore Defensive Specialist Alyssa Hutcheson and Freshman Outside Hitter Ava Johnson will all be moving on to four-year schools to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Emma Batte - University of the Southwest Mustangs (NAIA - Hobbs, New Mexico) The 6' La Porte native will be attending the Alma Mater of Head Coach Macy Olness.  She will look to make an immediate impact on the Mustangs defense as she departs CBC as the school's all-time leader in Block Solos (111) Block Assists (49) and Total Blocks (160).

Cameron Del Angel - Dallas Christian College Crusaders (NAIA / NCCAA - Dallas) - The big hitting outside from "the valley" city of Harlingen developed into a force on the outside for CBC amassing 206 kills in 2019 to give her 382 in her career, good enough for second in school history.

Alyssa Hutcheson - University of Louisiana Lafayette Rajin Cajuns (NCAA Division I - Lafayette, Louisiana) - "Hutch" was a clutch, digging and passing machine in her time in Cougar Blue.  She anchored the best defense in the country in 2018 recording a school record 720 digs.  She finishes her career as the all-time dig leader with 1,356.   Hutcheson becomes CBC's first player to earn a chance to play NCAA Division I volleyball.

Ava Johnson - Jacksonville University Dolphins (NCAA Division I - Jacksonville, Florida) - The high flyer from Tomball lead the Cougars in Kills (212), Kills Per Set (2.68), Points (232.5) and Points Per Set (2.9).  Those numbers got attention far and wide and she becomes the first Cougar volleyball player to move on to a Division I school after only one season.

We wish these Cougars all the best as continue their development as athletes, students and people.
