Beeville, TX-   The Coastal Bend College volleyball program has a familiar face at the helm, in Macy Dion.  Dion previously held the title of head coach at CBC in 2019, where she led the Cougars to a overall record of 12-18 and finishing 2-7 in Region XIV Conference play ranking second most in wins in a season and tied for the most conference wins in program history. During that season, Coastal Bend College Middle Hitter, Emma Batte and Defensive Specialist, Alyssa Hutcheson were named to the All Region XIV Honorable Mention Team. 

Dion served as the assistant for four years under Paul Cantrell. The San Angelo native wants to share her knowledge of the game to her team, build team chemistry and build off last season's success. Having high aspirations, Dion looks forward to instilling hard work and her standards for the team this season. Dion expects the returners to lead by example from their experiences from last year and for the incoming freshmen to hit the ground running come August. 

The Coastal Bend College 2021 volleyball season record may not reflect it but they made remarkable accomplishments on the court and off the court. The Cougars finished with a record of 10-21 on the season and 0-16 in conference. The Cougars had two student-athletes move on the play at the next level Renata Dominguez-University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, KS, and Gabriel Thuet- Coppin State University in Baltimore, MD.

The Cougars did not stop there, as they continued to achieve in accolades in the classroom and on the court.

Avea Gonzales Graduated with an Associate of Science

Cierra Ovalle will graduate after Summer 1 with an Associate of Arts

All-Region Awards:

Odalys Gonzalez- Second Team All-Region XIV

Renata Dominguez- All-Region XIV Honorable Mention

Individual Accomplishments:

Odalys Gonzalez- Overall Kill Leader with 607 Kills

The Cougars will open their season on Thursday, August 18th as they host the "Region V vs Region XIV Showdown" Invitational through Saturday, August 20th. Teams competing in the showdown are Cedar Valley College, Mountain View College, Cisco College, Ranger College, Blinn College and Wharton County Junior College. Coastal Bend is set to play Mountain View College at 7:00 PM at the Peter S. Marecek Physical Fitness Center on opening night.
