Beeville, Tx-  The Coastal Bend College volleyball team played their last home game of the 2022 season against Victoria College on Saturday, October 15th. The Cougars finished their last home match with a three set victory with scores 25-15, 25-20, 25-11.

Leading stats from this match came from our setters Leah Gonzales with 11 assists, 9 kills, and two service aces. Setter Jacqueline Hernandez had 18 Assists. In addition, our Outside Hitter Odalys Gonzalez had 15 kills, 10 digs, and two Service Aces. Libero Kinzley Stuart with 16 digs, and other outside hitter Ysabella Hinojosa had 7 kills and 1 Assist Block.

In addition to the match, CBC volleyball also honored their Sophomores for their dedication, hard work in the classroom, on the court and the commitment to the program. Sophomores, Leah Gonzales, Odalys Gonzalez, Ysabella Hinojosa, Ahna Merrell, Jacqueline Hernandez and Madison Pike were honored and recognized prior to the start of the match versus the Pirates. 

Sophomore Setter,  Leah Gonzales from Victoria, TX- Over her two years here at Coastal Bend, Gonzales has played in 57 matches and has accumulated 1,354 Assists, 89 Service Aces, 476 Digs, 102 Kills, and 50 Total Blocks.

Outside Hitter,  Ysabella Hinojosa from Corpus Christi, TX-  Hinojosa has played in 72 matches for CBC and has totaled: 23 Service Aces, 220 Kills, 21 Assists, 41 Total Blocks, and 488 Digs.

Outside Hitter, Odalys Gonzalez from Brownsville, TX-  Over her years here at Coastal Bend College, Gonzalez has played in 74 matches and holds program records for kills and digs with; 926 in each category. She also accumulated 32 Assists, 65 Service Aces, and 81 Total Blocks.

Sophomore Middle Blocker, Ahna Merrell from Anderson, TX-  During her two years here at CBC, Merrell played in 39 matches and has totaled: 141 Kills, 29 Digs, and 47 Total Blocks.

Setter, Jacqueline Hernandez from Skidmore, TX- Hernandez CBC played in 13 matches and has totaled: 10 Kills, 29 Assists, 6 Service Aces, 37 Digs and 4 Total Blocks.

Sophomore Middle Blocker, Madison Pike from Devine, TX- During the course of her two years here at Coastal Bend, Pike played in 50 matches and totaled: 74 Kills, 90 Total Blocks and 38 Digs.

The Cougars move to .500 on the season with the victory, holding a 13-13 overall record. They move to 2-10 in Region XIV Conference play.
