Philadelphia Phillies to Host Open Try Out at Joe Hunter Field

On Saturday, June 23rd, The Philadelphia Phillies Scouting Department will be hosting an open try out at Joe Hunter Field. Area Scout, Manny Rodriguez will be conducting the event on behalf of the Phillies organization.

Registration for the tryout runs from 8:00-8:45 a.m. that morning. Tryouts begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Position players will be tested in running and throwing, and if qualified on those abilities, will be held over to hit on the field. Pitchers will throw bullpen sessions. After further evaluation, additional hitting and bullpen sessions may be undertaken.

All participants must fill out and sign a waiver provided by the Phillies. Athletes under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian present. There is no age restriction.

Players should dress in baseball pants and bring molded cleats, gloves, and bats. Catchers are responsible for their own gear. Coastal Bend College and the Phillies are not responsible for any violations of a player's amateur status. Any player with remaining eligibility for high school or college baseball should take the necessary steps to protect their amateur status.

There is no fee to participate.
