Former Cougar Scores Game Winning Goal For NCAA Championship

Pittsburgh, PA- On Saturday, December 1st, Barry University faced West Chester University for the 2018 NCAA DII Men's Soccer National Championship. The Barry Buccaneers would score twice in the final six minutes of game play to rally past the Rams of Wes Chester. Behind the foot of Stephen Kosmala (#9 in the picture), Barry University would win the NCAA DII Soccer National Championship from the former Cougar's Free Kick. Kosmala recorded 14 games started for Barry, while scoring two goals and two assists on the season. The Buccaneers finish the season with a overall record of 16-4-3. 

Kosmala was a student-athlete for the Coastal Bend College Soccer program during the 2016-2017 school year, where he started in 19 games under head coach Brian Byrd, scoring eight goals with three assists. The England native also went 2-for-3 in penalty kicks while also leading the Cougars in game winning goals with three.

Kosmala is currently majoring in Management at Barry University, which is located in Miami Shores, FL.
