CBC Soccer Runs Out of Gas On The Road

Lufkin, Tx-     For the first time all season, the Coastal Bend College soccer team would play awway from Cougar Field. CBC faced Region XIV Conference foe, Angelina College on Friday evening for their first meeting of the season. 

The Cougars would jump out to a quick 1-0 lead on the Roadrunners, as Gabriel Campora  scored the opening goal with an Assist from Julian Colchado. Angelina responded about half way through the first half of play, with three consecutive goals in a span of three minutes to lead Coastal Bend. CBC cut the deficit in half, with an unassisted goal from Colchado, to only trail AC at the break, 2-3. 

In the first moments of the second half, the Roadrunners would score back to back goals to lead the Cougars, 2-5. In the 59th minute, the match's next goal would come from CBC's very own, Lucas Paixao. Coastal Bend still trailing by to goals looked to rally with just over 30 minutes left in the match. 

Angelina ended up putting the game out of reach for Coastal Bend, as they scored two more goals to lead, 3-7. The Cougars scored another goal from Mogammad Benjamin, but the Roadrunners kept the four goal gap in take with another goal. 

CBC ended up falling to Angelina, by a final score of 4-8. The loss put the Cougars at 3-3 in Region Conference play.


Brenham, Tx-     On Saturday, September 21st, Coastal Bend would visit #20 Blinn College for a Region XIV Conference match. Looking to rebound off of Friday's scoring barrage in Lufkin, the Cougars hoped to bring some much needed scoring for the battle with the Buccaneers. 

Blinn started the game with two goals early in the half. CBC's Sol Goodby scored a gaol in the 36th minute to chip into the Bucs lead. 

During the second half of the match, Blinn would again score another two goals before Coastal Bend could answer. Down 4-1, Callum Dean scored an unassisted goal to trim the deficit to two. 

As the game was in the final stages, the Bucs would score their fifth goal of the game, third of the second half to lead, 5-2. CBC Midfielder, Gabe Lopes scored a goal for the Cougars in the last minute of play. 

The Cougars lost the match, 3-5 to Blinn. CBC's record moved to 3-4 in conference play, with the loss. 

Coastal Bend's next match will be on October 4th as they will visit Paris Junior College for the second conference match of the season.
