Ruben Sepulveda Named NJCAA Division III National Player of the Week

Coastal Bend College First Baseman/Pitcher Ruben Sepulveda has been named NJCAA Division III National Player of Week for the week of January 29th - February 4th.  Sepulveda, a freshman from Rio Grande City High School in Rio Grande City, Texas led the Cougars to a series win over NJCAA Division II #7 ranked Murray State this past week.  Sepulveda was a duel threat versus Murray State as he hit .555 with five hits - including two doubles, two runs scored, seven RBIs, drew two walks, had a stolen base, recorded two double plays in the field all while pitching two shutout innings and recording one strike out.

Sepulveda becomes the second Cougar student-athlete to capture NJCAA National Player of the Week accolades this academic year, joining men's soccer player Matthew Shorrocks who was named National Goal Keeper of the Week in September.

Sepulveda and his fellow Cougars take to the diamond this weekend when they host NJCAA Division I power Panola College - currently ranked 11th nationally - on Friday (6:00) and Saturday (1:00 and 4:30) at Joe Hunter Field.
