Cougar Baseball Ranked Ninth in NJCAA Division III

For the first time in Coastal Bend College history, one of its athletic teams has been acknowledged as one of the best in the country.  CBC Baseball entered the weekly NJCAA Division III National Poll in ninth position.

The Columbia and Navy have been on a torrid pace having won 11 consecutive games.  Those wins included sweeps of NJCAA Division I Laredo Community and Blinn Colleges.  A stunning knockout of #1 NJCAA Division I San Jacinto on a misty foggy night.  This past weekend included a dominating performance of CBC's first NJCAA Division III opponent of the season Ridgewater (MN) College in which CBC scored a staggering 38 runs while tossing two shutouts and no hitter.

The Division III poll includes two teams which appear on the Cougars' schedule.  CBC will travel to Dallas to tangle with #6 Brookwood College on April 9th in a doubleheader.  CBC will then travel to take on fellow Region XIV member, defending Division III National Champions, and #5 ranked Tyler Junior College for a three game set on April 20-22nd.  Tyler then makes the trek to Beeville on May 3rd for a four game set.

"This is fantastic news for our kids, our program and our school, but we've got a lot of work to do." stated Head Coach Brian Bauerle.  "We want to keep getting better and put ourselves in a position to play for a National Championship.  I am proud of our boys, and what they have done; but we want a little more than a ranking."  beamed Bauerle.
