Former Cougar, Local High School Coach Suddenly Passes

Kingsville, Tx-   Former Coastal Bend College student-athlete, Cody Perez passed away late Sunday night, on August 13th. Perez was a former baseball player at CBC during the 2013-2014 school year.

Cody graduated from Corpus Christi Moody and was a part of the 2012 graduating class. Upon high school graduation, he attended New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico on a baseball scholarship.

Following his one year there, Cody then transferred to Coastal Bend College to continue his education and baseball playing career for the 2013-2014 school year.  He was the team MVP during his lone season at Coastal Bend, playing in the Infield, while also seeing action in the Outfield. Cody also graduated from Coastal Bend College in the Spring of 2014 with his Associates of Science Degree. 

Upon graduating from CBC and completing his two years of junior college eligibility, Perez was offered an athletic scholarship to further his education and playing career at Texas A&M International - University. He then graduated from TAMlU as a Bachelor of Science Degree with a focus in Kinesiology. Later, Perez earned his Master's Degree in Education at the University of Texas-Arlington with a focus in Education Leadership and Policy Studies.

Most recently, Cody was a Biology Teacher at Bishop High School, also teaching food science and advanced plant and soil science. Perez was also a football and baseball assistant coach for the last three school years. 

Cody was known to be a friendly, funny, energetic and competitive person. He will most certainly be missed by many.
