Remembering Cody Perez: CBC Baseball Honors Beloved Cougar

Beeville, TX- The Coastal Bend College baseball program recently honored Cody Perez with a commemorative gift in recognition of his passing. A memorial sign was placed at Joe Hunter Field to celebrate and remember the life of the late Cougar as CBC Baseball came together for their inaugural alumni game and home run derby. Over 25 former Cougar players participated in the event.

Cody Perez, a former Coastal Bend College student-athlete, passed away in August of 2023. Perez played baseball for CBC during the 2013-2014 school year.

Cody graduated from Corpus Christi Moody in 2012 and initially attended New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico on a baseball scholarship. After one year, he transferred to Coastal Bend College to continue his education and baseball career. During his lone season at Coastal Bend, he was the team MVP, playing both infield and outfield positions. He graduated from CBC in Spring 2014 with an Associate of Science Degree.

Perez then received an athletic scholarship to Texas A&M International University, where he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology. He later earned a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Texas-Arlington, focusing on Education Leadership and Policy Studies.

Cody had recently been a Biology teacher at Bishop High School, also teaching food science and advanced plant and soil science. He served as an assistant coach for both football and baseball over the past three school years. Known for his friendly, funny, energetic, and competitive spirit, Cody Perez is still greatly missed by many.

Cynthia Perez, mom of Cody, continues her son's legacy with the CP22ForeverFoundation. The foundation has numerous scholarships for students striving to continue their education post high school.
