CBC Alumn Gonzalez Named First Assistant Volleyball Coach at East Central University

Ada,OK -  Odalys "Oda" Gonzalez, a standout student-athlete and emerging coach from Brownsville, Texas, has been named the first full-time assistant volleyball coach at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma.

Gonzalez began her collegiate career at Coastal Bend College, where she made history as the program's all-time leader in kills (966) and became the first and only player to surpass both 500 career kills and 500 digs. A two-time All-Region XIV Second Team selection, she played a pivotal role in elevating the CBC volleyball program to new competitive heights.

In 2023, Gonzalez transferred to East Central University, quickly establishing herself as a key contributor. Over two seasons, she earned back-to-back All-Great American Conference honors—Second Team in 2023 and First Team in 2024—while playing in all 58 matches. She ranks sixth all-time in ECU history for both kills (779) and total points (879.5). Her 30 career double-doubles place her fourth in ECU history, highlighting her consistent all-around impact on the court.

Gonzalez graduated from Coastal Bend College in 2022 with an associate degree and earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from East Central University in 2025. Earlier this week, she became ECU Volleyball's first full-time assistant coach, once again breaking new ground. She brings a competitive mindset, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of the game to her role, with a passion for player development, culture building, and inspiring the next generation of student-athletes through her own journey.
