Coastal Bend uses seven-run seventh to beat LSCPA 10-7

Lamar State College Port Arthur led 7-3 with three outs left in the game but it was enough time for Coastal Bend College to mount a seven-run rally for a 10-7 NJCAA Region 14 win at Martin Field on Thursday, March 28.

The Seahawks led 1-0 until the third when Coastal Bend scored two to go up 2-1. LSCPA then added two in the bottom of the third and four more in the fourth to take what appeared to be a safe 7-2 lead. Coastal Bend scored one in the fifth ahead of its seven-run seventh-inning explosion.

The Seahawks were blessed with nine hits, four of those extra-base hits. Britni Hunt, who was 2 for 5 in the game, collected two doubles. Brooke Smith was 2 for 5 wtih a triple and Taylor Frederick's one hit of the game was a two-run home run. Olivia Rivera was 2 for 4 with two runs scored.

Hunt went the distance on the mound, allowing 10 runs, four earned, on 11 hits with eight strikeouts, three walks and four home runs.
