Apaches take 3-0 win on the road

BEEVILLE — Neil Strauber had four saves for the clean sheet as the No. 3 Tyler Junior College Apaches scored a 3-0 win over Coastal Bend on Friday in a Region XIV soccer game.

The Apaches move to 5-0 on the season and 4-0 in Region XIV Conference. The Cougars are 2-2 overall, all league games.

TJC travels down the road to meet another conference foe Laredo at 7 p.m. Saturday. Coastal Bend hosts Jacksonville College at 3 p.m. Saturday.

"It was a good win at a tough place to play," TJC coach Steve Clements said.

The Apaches took a 2-0 lead in the first half as Jake Morris (assist by Tamar Clayon-Naute) and Dylan Bufton (assist by Jorensky Augustin).

In the second half, 54 minutes into the game, Clayon-Naute connected for a goal off an assist from Karsimi Konneh.

TJC had six corner kicks to the Cougars' two and the Apaches had 10 shots on goal to CBC's five.
