TJC Soccer: Apaches sweep Laredo, Blinn

The No. 10 Tyler Junior College Apaches soccer team swept a weekend conference doubleheader at Pat Hartley Field.

TJC defeated Laredo (3-1) on Friday and Coastal Bend (3-0) on Saturday to maintain first place Region XIV.

The Apaches improve to 13-3 on the season and 10-1 in league play.

"We played well all weekend," TJC coach Steve Clements said.

Scoring for the Apaches against Laredo were Dominik Kurija (2 goals) and Tamar Clayon-Naute (1). Carl Koester was in goal for TJC.

The Palominos fell to 4-7 overall and 2-7 in conference.

Against Coastal Bend, Karsimi Konneh, Thaabit Baartman and Dion Macfoy Johnston scored goals for the Apaches. Assists were from Baartman, Tahjae Green and Jake Morris.

Koester was in goal for the clean sheet.

TJC returns to action on Friday, Oct. 18 vs. Northeast Texas and Saturday, Oct. 19 vs. Paris. Both games are in Tyler and have 7 p.m. scheduled starts.

The Apache Ladies game at Brookhaven on Saturday was canceled.
