Cougars Pitching Halts Visiting Palominos

After losing three games to Panola College, Coastal Bend looked to get back on track with a Tuesday, afternoon Double Dip with Laredo Community College.

Marco Becerril got the start for the Cougars for the first game of the two game series. Becerril faced 27 batters during his appearance. Becerril allowed only two earned runs off four Palomino hits while dicing up seven batters for the seven inning ball game. He held Laredo to only two runs for the day.

Coastal Bend Left Fielder, Josh Burnett hit a solo Homerun during the game while First Baseman, Ruben Sepulveda brought in a run with a Triple. Bo Gonzales and Kyler Bumstead each hit a Double during the game as well.

The Cougars beat the Palominos two to three to take the first game of the double header.

 

Coastal Bend looked to take the second game and sweep the two game series.Michael Dinsdale got the start for the Cougars. Dinsdale had a no-hitter going on until the fifth inning. He faced 22 batters during his appearance only allowing one hit during his five and a third outing. Dinsdale fanned seven Palominos before Jacob Williamson entered the game to relieve Dinsdale. Williamson pitched the final inning and two thirds, shutting down Laredo and completing the shutout and two game sweep. 

Jordan Gochenour hit a two RBI Homerun for the Cougars, while Joel Rodriguez collected three RBI's off two of his hits for the second game.

Coastal Bend won the game five runs to none, completing the double header sweep. By winning both games, the Cougars record improved to five and seven on the season.
