Baseball Set to Host Tyler In Four-Game Season Finale

The Coastal Bend College baseball team will wrap up its 2018 regular season this weekend with a four game set versus their Region XIV rival, Tyler Junior College.  Region XIV's only two NJCAA Division III opponents square off each season in a seven game series to determine the Region Championship.  This season, Tyler won the first three games of those seven in Tyler weekend before last defeating the Cougars - 9-6, 13-7, and 6-3.  Those losses have but the Cougars in tough position if they want to win their first Region XIV title. The Cougars have shown they can string together wins better than most as they have run off win streaks of 18 and seven during the 2018 season.

Both teams fell out of the latest NJCAA Division III poll to the ranks of receiving votes.  Last week, CBC was ranked 9th and Tyler 10th.  Regardless of the outcome of the weekends games, both teams will be on their way to NJCAA District C Championship Tournament being held in Plano, TX May 16-20th.  The District Championships features the top teams from NJCAA Regions 2, 5 and 15.  The question will come to seeding of the tournament, as the Region XIV Champions are traditionally the tournaments top seed.

The games will be streamed live.  You can access that live stream, provided by Tyler Junior College, by clicking HERE.
