The last time the Cougars wore red at Joe Hunter Field, the school was known as Bee County College and their coach was Bob Leach.  As a part of Coastal Bend College's 50th anniversary, both of those things happened again Saturday on Alumni Day as Coach Bob Leach, and one of Leach's former charges, Beeville Mayor Bebe Adamaez took to field to throw out  ceremonial first pitches.  The Cougars enjoyed wearing their "throwback" red jerseys as they easily handled their guests from South Suburban College out of South Holland, Illinois.  

Game One 

Cougar starting pitcher Cody Vega (3-3) cruised through the Bulldog lineup pitching six innings of shutout baseball as he scattered three hits and struck out four to pick up his third win of the season.  The Cougars struck first scoring five runs in the home half of the first and second innings with most of that damage coming from the core of the Cougar line-up as Kyle McShaffrey, Ronnie Bailey Jr. and Cooper Coe accounted for all six of the Cougar earned runs.

Game Two

The Cougar strong starting pitching continued in second half of the day's doubleheader, as Clayton Glover (1-1) went the distance for CBC.  He scattered three hits, striking out five to earn his first win of the season.  Cougar third baseman Cooper Coe did most of the offensive damage for the Cougars with this three-run blast over the left-center field fence in the bottom of the third inning.  

The Cougars will be back in action on Monday when they host TCS Post Graduate Academy out of the Dallas area in doubleheader beginning at Noon.
