Cougars Lose Close One In Galveston

Galveston, Tx- Tuesday afternoon, on March 26th the Coastal Bend Cougars faced the Galveston College Whitecaps for a nine inning ball game.

Left Handed Pitcher, Josh Mendez would receive the nod to start on the hill for CBC, marking his third start of the season.

The Cougars would score the games first run in the Top of the Second inning. Galveston had an answer, as they took the lead with a two run inning of their own in the Bottom half of the Second.

Mendez pitched seven complete innings, spreading out five hits in the game and allowing only two earned runs to go with his two strikeouts.

As the game continued, both ball clubs would keep each other off the scoreboard. Michael Dinsdale entered the game in the Bottom of the Eighth inning to relieve Mendez. Dinsdale pitched one complete inning, giving up one hit and one run for his outing.

The next score in the ball game would not happen until late in the game, when the Whitecaps knocked in a run to take a 3-1 lead into the Ninth inning.

Coastal Bend was able to score one run in the Top of the Ninth, but the rally fell short. The Cougars ended up losing by a final of 2-3.

The Cougars currently hold a 14-22 record on the season, dropping the last six games. Coastal Bend looks to get back on track on Wednesday, April 3rd as they will host Saint Edwards University JV for a double header. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
