Cougars Sweep Mountaineers at Home

Beeville, Tx- Immediatley after the Easter Weekend, the Cougars hosted Schreiner Unviersity (JV) for a double header at Joe Hunter Field. The weather was perfect for some CBC Baseball on a Spring day in the Coastal Bend. 

Right Handed Pitcher, Michael Dinsdale would get the nod to start on the hill for the Cougars. 

After giving up one run in the Top of the First inning, Coastal Bend answered back with a Run of their own to tie the game up, 1-1. 

Dinsdale's afternoon would be over after the Second inning. He pitched two complete innings, allowing only one run, one walk and one strikeout. Christian Isenhour entered the game during the Top of the Third inning to relieve Dinsdale. Isenhour's outing would be short lived, as he surrendered four runs in a third of an inning. Spencer Wallace came in to replace Isenhour during the Top of the Third. 

After a scoreless Third inning for CBC, they managed to keep the Mountaineers off the scoreboard in the Top of the Fourth. During the Bottom half of the Fourth, the Cougars rallied for a three run inning. Though Coastal Bend still trailed, they trimmed the deficit to one run, 5-4.

Wallace and company held Schreiner to another scoreless frame in the Top of the Fifth. In the Bottom of the Fifth inning, CBC took the lead for the first time by scoring two runs. 

Heading into the Sixth inning with a 6-5 lead, the Cougars again kept the Mountaineers off the scoreboard. Coastal Bend found an insurance run in the Bottom of the Sixth inning to go up, 7-5.

Mason Foster entered the game in the Top of the Seventh inning to close out the game. Foster worked quickly and effectively, allowing only one hit while recording a strikeout to end the ball game over the Mountaineers.  The Reliever from Dilley, Tx earned his Third Save of the season. Spencer Wallace would be credited with his First Win on the year for CBC.

Coastal Bend Center Fielder, Kody Kolb had himself a day at the dish, going two for four while collecting two RBI's. Catcher, Ronnie Bailey Jr went two for three in the batter's box while producing an RBI. Right Fielder, Kyler Bumstead, First Baseman, Kyle McShaffry, Third Baseman, Cooper Coe and Designated Hitter, Amilcar Montanez each pencilled in an RBI to their names. 


Game Two 

For the second game of the day, the CBC coaching staff gave Right Hander, Arnaldo Garcia the start on the bump. Garcia pitched only one inning for his outing, allowing four earned runs, while recorind three strikeouts in the opening inning. 

In the Bottom of the First inning, the Cougars scored one run to cut into the four run lead the Mountaineers had built. 

The Cougars made a pitching change in the Top of the Second inning. Ricky Garcia entered the ball game to relieve Garcia on the mound. The San Antonio native pitched extemely well in relief, allowing only one hit while striking out six Mountaineers during his four and a third of an inning of work. 

Meanwhile, the Cougar bats came alive during Garcia's outing of relief. Coastal Bend knocked in one run in both the Bottom of the Second and Third inings to trail, 4-3. 

In the Bottom of the Fourth Inning, the Cougars scored four runs to lead, 7-4. As the game moved quickly to the Bottom of the Fifth inning, so did the CBC runners. The Cougars hung up five runs on Schreiner to expand their lead to 12-4.

Sterling Craig entered the game to relieve Ricky Garcia during the Sixth inning. Following a scoreless frame from both ball clubs in the Sixth inning, Craig wrapped up the game for Coastal Bend on the mound in the Top of the Seventh. 

The Cougars won the ball game, 12-4. Ricky Garcia recorded his First Win of the season for CBC. 

Left Fielder, Bo Gonzales batted .750 during the game, as he raked in four RBI's and three run- Home Run. First Baseman, Kyle McShaffry hit a bases clearing Double to record three RBI's. Center Fielder, Jordan Wofford batted 1.000 for the game, collecting to RBI's off a Triple and a Single. Right Fielder, Kyler Bumstead went two for five with an RBI. Catcher, Mitchel Kalinowski also hit a Single for an RBI during the game. 

The Cougars will be back in full swing on Monday, April 29th as they will travel to Brenham, Tx for a double header with Blinn College. First Pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
