Cougars Get Revenge, Beat Gators in Houston

Houston, TX-  Coastal Bend College stole the lead late and defeated #3 San Jacinto College 7-6 on Thursday evening. The game was tied at five with Coastal Bend College batting in the top of the ninth when a wild pitch allowed one run to score for Coastal Bend College .

Logan Henderson started the game for Coastal Bend College . The righty gave up four earnerd runs on five hits over five innings, while striking out five batters.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Coastal Bend College collected six hits and San Jacinto College nine in the high-scoring affair. Coastal Bend College got things started in the first inning when Eric Martinez singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

San Jacinto College scored three runs in the fifth inning. The Gators hitters strung up some big hits in the inning to provide the in runs in the frame.

As the game moved to the Top of the Seventh inning, Coastal Bend trailed San Jacinton 3-5. The Cougars were able to trim the deficit in that frame to make it a one run ball game. 

Following a few scoreless frames and a 4-5 Gator lead, the Cougars looked to rally. Coastal Bend was able to get some base runners on, and capitalized on some pitching miscues from San Jacinto.

CBC scored three runs, taking a 7-5 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. Ian Sexton and company surrendered one run to make it a 7-6 ball game before shutting the door to secure the game. 

Jaden Meredith led the Coastal Bend College to victory on the pitcher's mound. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over one inning, walking zero.  Eric Elizondo and Ian Sexton entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Sexton recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Coastal Bend College. Sexton earned his second save of the season.

Ryan Davenport went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Coastal Bend College in hits. Christian Terranova knocked in two RBI's for the game while Eric Martinez help score a Cougar run.
