Three Cougars Named to All Conference and Region Teams

Though the Cougar baseball season has come to a conclusion, Coastal Bend College baseball has added a few more accolades to their program. Coastal Bend has recently been informed of recognition and honor for three student athletes.

Coastal Bend Left Handed Pitcher, Cobe Reeves has been named to the First Team of the South Region. Cougar Infielder, Damian Rodriguez  took the honor of being named to the Second Team - South Region for Third Base. Rodriguez was also named to the Second Team All-Conference Team. CBC First Baseman, Eric Martinez was named to the Second Team - South Region. 

Cougar Pitcher, Cobe Reeves made 14 appearances for the Cougars this season, 11 of which were starts. Reeves won a total of four games and pitched six complete games. The Ingleside native pitched a total of 67.2 innings, surrendering 67 hits and 40 walks while striking out 85 opposing batters. Reeves gave up only one home run on the year and recorded a 3.06 era for the 2022 season

CBC Third Baseman, Damian Rodriguez started in 50 games for the Cougars this past season while batting .382. Rodriguez smacked six home runs, 15 doubles and two triples for Coastal Bend to go with his 35 RBI's. The McAllen, TX native posted a .892 fielding percentage and turned 15 double plays from the hot corner. 

CBC First Baseman, Eric Martinez competed in 49 games for CBC during the 2022 campaign. Martinez hit .297 from the dish, while holding an slugging percentage of .568. The Edinburg, TX native led the Cougars in both home runs and RBI's with 10 and 47, respectively. Martinez posted a fielding percentage of .987 on the year.  

Damian Rodriguez has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and playing career with The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley this coming school year. Both Eric Martinez and Cobe Reeves are currently mulling over offers and will make their respective decisions in the coming weeks.
