Cougar Hardball Wins Two in Season Opener
Beeville,TX-  The Coastal Bend College baseball team hosted Spartan Post Grad Academy for a season opening doubleheader this past Friday. The Cougars brought out their bats and brooms as they swept the Spartans in the double dip. CBC would take game one, 11-1 and game two with a final score of 9-2. 
 
The Cougars won big over Spartan Post Grad Academy 11-1 on Friday. The season opener would be won by run-rule in the bottom of the sixth inning.

CBC's big bats in the inning were led by Eric Martinez, Mathew Brooks, Brandon Gonzales, Isaiah Aguilar, and Selvin Anderson who each record at least one RBI. 

Cobe Reeves led the Coastal Bend to victory on the mound. The left handed hurler surenderred two hits and one run over five innings, striking out nine. Cameron Hodges threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen for the Cougars. CBC did not commit a single error in the field.

The Cougars collected ten hits on the day. Brooks, Isaiah Aguilar, and Keagan Solomon each managed multiple hits for Coastal Bend. Brooks went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Coastal Bend College in hits. Aguilar led Coastal Bend College with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases. 


Coastal Bend College defeated Spartan Post Grad Academy 9-2 in game two on Friday.  Thanks to a timely big, six run fifth inning. Keagan Solomon, Isaiah Aguilar, Eric Martinez, Mathew Brooks each had RBI's in the game. Brooks lead the team with two RBI's.

The Cougars started quickly, jumping out to an early lead in the Bottom of the First inning. An Error by the Spartans led to the game's first score. Following a scoreless second inning, the Spartans knotted up the ball game, 1-1 in the Top of the Third. 

Coastal Bend ended up pulling away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Eric Martinez had an RBI single, scoring one run. Matthew Brooks's sac fly scored the second run for Coastal Bend.

Coastal Bend Pitcher, Preston Allen took the win for Coastal Bend. Allen surrendered one run on three hits over six innings, striking out four and walking zero batters. Ian Sexton threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Brooks went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Coastal Bend College in hits. The Cougars again, did not commit a single error in the field. 

The Cougars improve to 2-0 on the season and are slated to face Texas Lutheran University JV on Thursday, February 2nd for an Away doubleheader in Seguin, TX.
