Men's Basketball Ready to Take On Panola At Region XIV Championship Tournament

For the first time since the 2014-2015 season, the Coastal Bend Cougars Men's Basketball Team is headed to the Region XIV Championship Tournament.  The Cougars will square off on Tuesday night at 8:00 pm versus Panola College in the opening round of the tournament in Jacksonville, TX.  The Cougars are the 11th seed and come into the tournament having lost their four of their last five games.  The Cougars lost to Panola during the regular season on the road 97-68 back on December 9th.

It has been a tough stretch for Columbia and Navy as only a few weeks ago, they were fighting for the one of the tournaments top seeds, but illness and injury have slowed them down.  CBC still has more than enough offensive and defensive prowess to make a March Madness run.  They are led offensively by guards Malik Amos and Dajuan Madden who are averaging 19.4 and 16.6 points per game. Amos's 19.4 is but 0.4 off the Region XIV scoring lead.  Guard Rashon Thomas is a true sniper who connects on 46.7% of the 3-point shots he attempts; second best in Region XIV.

On the defensive side of the ball, 6'10" Edmund Franklin averages a Region XIV and NJCAA Division I leading four blocked shots per game.  But before you can test "Big Ed", you have to get past Madden, a "master pickpocket", whose 3.3 steals per game is first in Region XIV and good enough for sixth best in NJCAA Division I.

The game will be streamed live from John Alexander Gymnasium on the campus of Jacksonville College.  You can watch the stream by clicking HERE.
