Cougars Grind Out Victory Over Pirates

Beeville, Tx-  On Friday, November 9th Coastal Bend hosted Victoria College at the Peter S. Marecek Fitness Center for a basketball matchup. Victoria will be joining The Region XIV Conference next year and brought a strong force to the court. The Cougars started off the game slowly, in what appeared as if it would be a replay of Saturday's game against Fort Sam Houston, Coastal Bend battled back and forth to end the first half with a 53-50 lead.  The second half of the contest continued to be a dog fight as both teams fought back and forth. The Cougars ended up pulling out the hard earned victory over the Pirates with a final score of, 104-99.

CBC Center, Elijah Moleon lead the team in scoring with 33 points and snatched nine rebounds on the game. Royce Hunter added 16 points to go with his eight rebounds to his stat line. Charles Callier contributed with 11 points and six rebounds. A trio of Cougars each netted 10 points a piece; Bernard Randle lead the team with five steals, three assists and three rebounds, while Brian Payton added four helpers and three boards and Peyton Hardin corralled seven rebounds and four steals to his name. Eric Porter also helped the team by scoring eight points and grabbing three rebounds with two assist.

 

The Cougars next set of games will be away this weekend, as they travel to Levelland, Tx to face New Mexico Military Institute on Friday, November 16th at 7:00pm and South Plains College on Saturday, November 17th at 2:00pm.
